Welcome Aboard

I am excited to welcome the talented Vanessa Lim to the Sai Designs team as our new Digital Design Manager. Vanessa has been working with me for a long time and always creates beautiful and creative work that shows a high level of attention to detail. One of Vanessa's first projects will be to work on getting the website updated as well as connecting more with our clients and colleagues through social media. If you have any ideas or suggestions on how you would like us to interact with you in these forums please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Vanessa will also be creating a Sai Designs Pinterest account that showcases all of the images we come across that inspire our practice. Pinterest allows users to share beautiful things they find on the web with others and create digital pinboards that reveal their interests.

The scope of the project extends from initial branding concepts, to help Next Rural stand out in the market and appeal to their customers, through to the application of this branding onto flyers, posters, reports, booklets, corporate profiles and a website.

Fashioning Now

We have been working on the UTS project Fashioning Now since it's conception early last year and are thrilled to announce that the companion publication, Shaping Sustainable Fashionchanging the way we make and use clothes, has just been released internationally. We have worked on all identity, promotional, exhibition and website components of the project and are very proud to see our hard work displayed in bookshelves around the country.

Shaping Sustainable Fashionchanging the way we make and use clothes fills a gap in existing literature in the area of waste in the fashion and textiles industry. It explores the way in which clothing is produced, used and discarded and investigates zero-waste design methodologies. This book forms one component of the much larger Fashioning Now project that comprised of an exhibition, a symposium and a project website that feature innovative research projects from scholars and practitioners. Through these activities Fashioning Now proposed to highlight the diverse range of sustainable solutions currently being explored by researchers, designers and manufacturers, while predicting possible scenarios for a future fashion industry.

Shaping Sustainable Fashionchanging the way we make and use clothes can be purchased in hardback or paperback form from:

Earthscan Publishing
Borders
Angus & Robertson
Berkelouw Books

For more information on the project visit www.fashioningnow.com.
